It’s been a year since I shared this photo on my Instagram story.
It’s been a year since I coped with my grief.

While I wondered where I was in my grief journey as it was going to be a year to my dad's demise, I lost my grandfather around the same date this June.

I paused.

I paused because I realised I couldn’t pull through anymore. I needed a breather to look after my well-being and focus on my family.

Taking a pause was not necessarily going to prevent the sun from coming up let alone the roles I play in my life. Nonetheless, I had the liberty to take a break for a week.

The pause paused many things that I was trying to do - eating clean, exercising, sleeping on time, journaling, talking it out etc. It also paused and postponed events and some parts of my work like taking therapy sessions.

I have realised that lapses do happen and that’s okay too! My body was slowing down. It felt as if it was asking to rest. My brain felt it could not take on much. Some days when I feel like I write or paint. While on some other days, I simply be or meditate. Baby steps to getting back there.

Grief is messy. But, it’s not the end although it feels like one. You keep moving through it until you see the light, one step at a time.

There have been times when we received no registrations, and at other times, we received over 5, 10, 20 or even more than 200 registrations.

Regardless of the number of participants, we keep moving forward. This is the spirit of the Innate Mind team in promoting mental wellness awareness!

I recall starting the blog segment on Innate Mind page 5 years ago. The moto was purely to provide a space to anyone wishing to spread awareness or share their mental wellness journeys.

As Innate Mind grew with interns, this became a powerful space for them to express their academic knowledge and experiences.

Today, we re-launched these blogs by publishing articles. Personally, I found her articles written straight from her heart that speaks to the readers.
