R@pe-aXe is an anti-assault device developed by South African medical technician Sonette Ehlers. The idea reportedly came after she spoke with a survivor who said she wished she had βteeth down there,β which inspired the concept. ππ»
First publicized in 2005, the device was designed to be worn internally, similar to a female c0nd0m. It contains inward-facing barbed latex hooks intended to latch onto an attacker during an incident, causing intense pain if he tries to withdraw. The device would then require medical removal, which could potentially help identify the att@cker if he sought treatment.
Although it gained international media attention, the concept was widely debated. Critics argued it might escalate harm against victims and shift responsibility onto potential survivors rather than focusing on offenders. It was never widely produced or adopted and remains highly controversial. This summary is for informational purposes only. ππ»
