Studying Medicine in India

India is truly a well-equipped place for a medical degree as the schools have an average of 40 years in the teaching and training of medical practitioners. Fittingly, these medical schools have their own teaching hospitals where students are able to get extensive clinical exposure. Medical students in India are well-prepared for a carrier in medicine as the country’s high population creates a steady flow of patients, allowing students to receive extensive patient contact. For example, in India the ratio between students and cadavers is 4:1.

Most of the universities in India have specialised programs. Students can choose to go to India and do their specialisation, however the chances of them getting accepted depends on the requirements met.

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad clarified that there was no proposal to extend the period of MBBS course.
