Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.
These gland situated just behind lash line, secrete meibum( oil) which stabilize our tear film. Dysfunction of these glands can lead to-grittiness /itching in eyes, foreign body sensation, light sensitivity, redness, blurred vision, even excessive watering.
Causes- Aging( decrease ANDROGEN with increasing age),
POST MENOPAUSE, Diabetes, Thyroid disease, medicine for glaucoma, Acne etc.
our patient with these symptoms demonstrating tooth paste like secretion on pressing the lid mechanically.
With proper ocular and systemic evaluation, Lid massage and medicines it can be controlled and cured.

Recently treated a patient having complain of recurrent redness and foreign body sensation, photophobia and diminution of vision from last one and half years. Initially patient thought of some foreign body inside the eye, used to wash eyes daily which gave temporary relief but symptoms kept on increasing, on top of that self medication with steroids drops initially soothes the eye, so on prolong use patient developed white lesion on his cornea that significantly decreased vision.
Finally patient consulted us and treated appropriately.
sharing you the results after 2 months. Still on treatment.
NOTE=self medications can be dangerous for the body and delicate organs like EYE and they can alter the presentation of diseases, this poses significant difficulty to correctly diagnose the actual condition.

when she was 5 year old has a history of frequent fall especially while going down through stairs, more in hilly region as in hills we have footstep like terrain.
on clinical examination she was found to have bilateral squint, she was operated for both eyes squint and given glasses and now she is doing perfectly fine. Current age 9 years.
