In a recent virtual meeting held on 8th January, 2024 with Dr. (Prof) Shankar Das, (Dean, School of Health Systems Studies, TISS, Mumbai), the Uttrakhand team of Tata Institute of Social Sciences discussed a concise overview of the research study on monitoring and evaluating the functionality of Health and Wellness Centers in Uttarakhand.
The meeting was attended by Dr. (Prof) Shankar Das (Program Head), Program Executives (Dr. Akhilesh Tripathi and Mr. Narendra Bisht ), Program Coordinators (Dr. Gaurav Gairola, Dr. Aditya Shubham Joshi and Mrs. Sankita Sharma), Program Assistant cm Field Officers (Mr. Naveen Chandra Pandey, Dr. Sana Parveen, Mr. Mohit Rawat, Mr. Siddhant Mehra and Ms. Vandana Shukla) and 55 field investigators.
The discussion revolved around key strategies, including community engagement and infrastructure development. Prof. Das provided insightful recommendations, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and collaboration with local authorities. Action items were identified, focusing on further research and stakeholder engagement. The meeting, marked by constructive dialogue, concluded with a clear path forward. A two-day workshop cm induction meeting was organized by School of Health System Studies (SHSS), Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS), Mumbai on 28th and 29th December, 2023 at Divisional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre, Dehradun, Uttrakhand. The workshop was led by Dr. (Prof.) Shankar Das, Dean, School of Health System Studies (SHSS) TISS, Mumbai.
Dr. (Prof.) Shankar Das shared the valuable insights of the project - Independent Monitoring and Supervision of Primary Health Care Provisioning through Health and Wellness Centres in Uttrakhand. Initiated by Tata Institute of Social Sciences TISS, Mumbai, this project will work in collaboration with National Health Mission, Uttarakhand. Prof. Das emphasized that primary health care is a whole-of-society approach to health and well-being centered on the needs and preferences of individuals, families and communities. It addresses the broader determinants of health and focuses on the comprehensive and interrelated aspects of physical, mental and social health and wellbeing. Primary health care ensures people receive comprehensive care - ranging from promotion and prevention to treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care - as close as feasible to people’s everyday environment.
