It caters not only to the population of Dehradun and nearby towns of Haridwar and Roorkee, but all the hill districts of Garhwal region as well surrounding areas of western Uttar Pradesh like Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Bijnour. The clinic was started by Dr. Kamal Bhatt, consultant rheumatologist in year 2009. Dr. Kamal Bhatt belongs to the hill state of Uttarakhand. After finishing his basic schooling from his native town Pithoragarh, he joined MLN Medical College, Allahabad, from where he did MBBS and MD (Medicine) and passed out in year 2005. He has done senior residency in medicine from Ambedkar Hospital, Delhi and subsequently joined the premier institute in rheumatology in north India, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow and did senior residency in the department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology. He came back to his native state after this and started Prerna Clinic in February 2009 with a vision to provide quality rheumatology care to the people belonging to far and wide places of Uttarakhand, where no such service existed so far. Apart from running an arthritis clinic in the prominent CMI hospital in the heart of the town, he also runs monthly satellite clinics of rheumatology in the nearby towns of Vikasnagar and Saharanpur. In the last five and half years, Dr. Bhatt has aspired to be the primary care provider in the field of rheumatology with a view to provide basic clinical services to the wide range of rheumatology patients. His special interests include early undifferentiated arthritis and post-traumatic inflammatory arthritis.
