🔎 How Esophageal Cancer is Examined 🔎

Early and accurate diagnosis helps guide the right treatment for esophageal cancer. These are the main examination methods used in evaluation.

Common Tests Include:
Endoscopy (esophagogastroscopy) to directly view the food pipe.
Barium swallow when endoscopy is not available, especially in rural areas.
Biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
CT scan of chest and abdomen with contrast to assess spread, especially in urban and semi-urban settings.
If symptoms like difficulty swallowing persist, medical evaluation should not be delayed.

It was an engaging academic interaction with physicians from multiple specialties, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in improving cancer outcomes.

Advancing Stoma Care Through Collaboration 🤝

An important initiative by Convatec during CAHOCON 2026 at the Chennai Convention Centre, Chennai, brought together surgeons and nursing leaders from across the country for a focused Round Table Meeting on Peristomal Skin Complications and Stoma Care.

The discussion highlighted key gaps in stoma care and emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration, with representation from government, private, and corporate healthcare sectors.

Privileged to be part of this enriching academic exchange under the umbrella of CAHO (Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations), an organization committed to quality improvement, patient safety, and standardization of healthcare practices across India.

Early mobilization after complex GI oncosurgery is always encouraging to see.
Robotic esophagectomy, laparoscopic right hemicolectomy, radical gastrectomy — and all these patients were walking between post-operative day 1 to 3.

When your competent team sends you early morning videos of patients walking in the ward and ICU, it reinforces your confidence in a strong recovery pathway being followed.

Invited to speak at ENIGMA-4 Cancer Conclave 2026, a medical oncology conference organized by Dr. Chandragouda Dodagoudar.

Presented on Evidence on the Role of Robotics in Re**al Cancer Treatment. Grateful for the opportunity to share surgical perspectives with medical oncology colleagues and engage in insightful case discussions.

A special moment was meeting my teacher Dr. Anil Agarwal sir (Former HOD, GI Surgery, GB Pant Hospital)—my early GI surgery training under him built the foundation of my surgical journey.

Also wonderful catching up with my dear friend Dr. Tushar Aeron, always a pleasure interacting with colleagues committed to advancing cancer care.
