Thyroidectomy:
* **Surgical removal of all/part of thyroid gland**: Located in neck, regulating metabolism and growth.
* **Types:*
1. **Total Thyroidectomy**: Entire gland removed.
2. **Hemithyroidectomy**: One lobe (half) removed.
3. **Subtotal Thyroidectomy**: Part of gland removed, some tissue left.
* **Reasons for surgery:*
1. Thyroid cancer
2. Benign thyroid nodules/cysts
3. Hyperthyroidism (overactive gland)
4. Goiter (enlarged gland)
5. Thyroiditis (inflammation)
