Both in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intrauterine insemination (IUI) are artificial methods of inducing pregnancy. The difference between them lies in the site of fertilisation.

Intrauterine insemination is a process where s***m is introduced inside the uterus through a speculum, a device shaped like a duck’s bill. The fertilisation occurs inside the uterus and follows the same process as a normal pregnancy.

On the other hand, in-vitro fertilisation focuses on fertilising the egg externally. The eggs from the uterus are surgically extracted and fused with the s***m sample of the male outside the body. Children born as a result of IVF are, hence, also known as ‘test-tube’ babies.
