1 to 7 👉🏻👈🏻 The inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) technique
is a dental procedure that numbs the lower lip, mandibular teeth, and the gingiva of the mandible. It's a common technique used for minor surgeries and to extract lower teeth. The IANB technique involves injecting a local anesthetic near the mandibular foramen, before the inferior alveolar nerve enters it. 

Here are some tips for performing an IANB: 

Apply topical lidocaine

Before injecting, you can apply topical lidocaine to the injection site with a cotton-tipped applicator or gauze.

Use a 25–27 gauge needle

Aim the needle towards the tergo mandibular triangle, and insert it about 1 cm above the molar.

Touch bone

Ensure the needle tip touches bone to ensure the proper depth and angle.

Withdraw and aspirate

Withdraw the needle slightly and aspirate before injecting 1–2 mL of local anesthetic
