Facts About the Indian Tour & Travel Industry!
In the first half of 2024, India saw 4,778,374 foreign tourists, up from 4,380,239 in 2023 but still below the 5,296,025 in 2019, a nearly 10% drop from pre-pandemic levels. Indian airlines are expanding international routes with popular destinations like Bali and Baku. Despite this, foreign tourist arrivals haven’t returned to pre-Covid levels. Neighboring countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Sri Lanka attract more tourists because they are cheaper and cleaner and offer easy visa policies. The Indian government promotes domestic tourism, but foreign tourist numbers remain low.
