Dear Board Members and All Members of DOA,
Greetings from the Delhi Optometrists Association,
It's my pleasure to share the Minutes of the meeting (MOM prepared by Dr. Ravinder Tyagi) and inform you all about the meeting of the Executive Body which was organized on 30th June 2024 In Delhi.
Venue: MGM Club Daria Gang New Delhi.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Anil Tyagi President of DOA and 14 board members out of 19 executive bodies were present and one was attended online along with one member of the Advisory Committee. The list of Executive committee members who have attended the meeting is as follows.

The meeting was well organized under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Prem Kumar Singh, Vice-President and same was carried more the 4 hours continuously all members suggested their valuable opinions for the betterment of the OptometryProfession and Optometrists in India and all are bound to achieve the respect of Optometry Profession and Optometrist among the public at large.
The Board has taken important decisions which are as follows
1. On the Top priority representations for replace the OPHTHALMIC SCIENCE council with the OPTOMETRY PROFESSION COUNCIL only and exclude OPTOMETRIST from the Hypothetical Ophthalmic Science category immediately under the schedule of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare ProfessionsAct,2021 to the Hon’ble Sh. Om Birla jiSpeaker of Parliament of India and Hon’ble Sh. J P Nadda ji. Minister of Health & FW, Govt of India.
2. Representation for unification of different nomenclature of optometry degrees like B S in optometry or B.Sc. in Optometry or B.Sc. in Optometry and ophthalmic Technology or Bachelor optometry and ophthalmic Technology or B.sc ( H) in OphthalmicTechnique or others name or M.Sc. Of Optometry and other names all must be changed into one nomenclature as Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) and Master of Optometry (B.Optom) like MBBS or BDS or BAMS only as per UGC notification dated 5th July 2014 and all previous different nomenclature must be declared equivalent with Bachelor of Optometry w.e.from post facto date immediately. To avoid the discrimination or fundamental right of equal education in India.
3. Representation for changing the name of Refractionist and Orthoptist to OPTOMETRIST in all Hospitals under the Delhi Government and corporation etc. and implementation of recommendation of 7th CPCo Govt of India 4. Representation for revision of pay scales for the Post of Optometrist, Sr.Optometrist, and optometry Officer based on minimum Degree in Optometry (4years course) at entry level from Rs4200/- to new pay scale (proposed) Scale Rs. 4800/- as per pay scale of PHN of Rs 4800/- and next to Rs 5400/-, Rs. 6600/- and creation higher promotion post from Chief Optometry officer to Dy, Director (InOptometry) under the Ministry of Health Govt of India.
5. Board members agreed to conduct CME next month with the collaboration of Govt university /authority.
6. All members have also agreed to initiate a special membership drive for one to enroll .register optometry profession Professional under the benefit of 50% (Rs 3000/- instead of Rs. 6000/-) membership Fee immediately On the Occasion of National Doctor Day 2024
5. A Report about the bank account and current status of the fundus.
After the Representations, if no fruitful result comes out then DOA will take all such demands in the respective courts like the Principle Bench of Central Administration TribunalDelhi, Delhi High Court, or Supreme Court of India with the 60-day time frame for the achieve goals and establishment of Optometry status independent practice of optometry, not the Hypothetical ophthalmic Science.
You are requested and informed to have gone through DOA demands and activities and give your strong support to DOA for the Optometry Profession Council instead of the Hypothetical Ophthalmic Science Council.
