Great to be part of the DOA Basic Trauma Course held on 8th March. I had the privilege of participating as faculty and interacting with an enthusiastic group of young orthopaedic surgeons.

Kudos to the organisers — Dr Karun Jain, Dr Jujhar Singh and Dr Samarth Mittal — for putting together such a well-structured and high-quality academic program.

What truly stood out was the excellent attendance, energetic discussions, and hands-on participation on saw bone models. It was encouraging to see such curiosity and commitment to learning the fundamentals of trauma surgery.

Teaching always becomes more rewarding when the audience is so engaged. Looking forward to many more such academic interactions that strengthen orthopaedic education and patient care.

In routine orthopaedic practice, a significant number of individuals are able to postpone knee replacement by several years through timely, evidence-based joint preservation strategies.

Key principles I emphasise include:

• 🚶‍♂️ Low-impact physical activity to maintain mobility without overloading the joint
• ⚖️ Weight optimisation, which directly reduces stress on knee cartilage
• 🦿 Targeted strengthening of quadriceps, hamstrings and hip musculature
• 🚫 Avoidance of repetitive strain and high-impact loading
• 🩺 Early evaluation of pain, stiffness or swelling
• 🧘‍♂️ Correction of posture and movement mechanics
