Central government has launched clinical research studies on Ayurveda interventions as an add on to standard care to COVID-19 and decided to initiate population based studies to analyze impact of Ayurvedic interventions in prevention of infection in high risk population.

AYUSH SANJIVANI mobile app is developed by ministry of AYUSH which will generate useful data on acceptance and usage of AYUSH advocacies and measures among the population and its impact in prevention of COVID-19.

The objective of this research will be to assess the preventive potential of AYUSH interventions for COVID 19 and also to assess the improvement in quality of life in high risk population.

Government has released guidelines for coronavirus testing in private labs.
In brief-
1. To avoid contact of people with suspect case during local travel to lab, home collection of samples is preferred
2. Lab staff involved in testing should be appropriately trained
3. All biomedical waste should be disposed off in accordance with national guidelines
4. It has been clearly mentioned that the maximum cost for testing sample should not exceed ₹4500, failure to comply with the guidelines will result in legal action

Who will be tested?
1. All asymptomatic inviduals who have undertaken international travel in last 14 days ( if develop symptoms)
2. All symptomatic contacts of lab confimed cases
3. All hospitalised patients with severe respiratory illness
4. All symptomatic healthcare workers
5. Asymptomatic direct and high risk contacts of a confirmed case ( to be tested once between day 5 and day 14 of coming in contact)

National AYUSH Mission (NAM) -

The goal and objectives of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) are as follows:
(i) To provide cost effective AYUSH Services, with a universal access through upgrading AYUSH Hospitals and Dispensaries, co-location of AYUSH facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs).
(ii) To strengthen institutional capacity at the state level through upgrading AYUSH educational institutions, State Government Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy (ASU&H) Pharmacies, ASU & H Drug Testing Laboratories and enforcement mechanism.
(iii) Support cultivation of medicinal plants by adopting Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) so as to provide sustained supply of quality raw-materials and support certification mechanism for quality standards, Good Agricultural/ Collection/Storage Practices.
(iv) Support setting up of clusters through convergence of cultivation, warehousing, value addition, marketing and development of infrastructure for entrepreneurs.

The National AYUSH Mission inter-alia makes provision for the following activities:-
(i) Co-location of AYUSH facilities at Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Districts Hospitals (DHs).
(ii) Upgradation of exclusive State Government AYUSH Hospitals and Dispensaries.
(iii) Setting up of upto 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospital.
(iv) Upgradation of State Government Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Educational Institutions.
(v) Setting up of new State Government AYUSH Educational Institutions in the States where it is not available in Government Sector.
(vi) Strengthening of State Government/State Government Co-operatives/Public Sector Undertakings Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy (ASU&H) Pharmacies
(vii) Strengthening of State Drug Testing Laboratories for ASU &H Drugs
(viii) Support for cultivation of Medicinal Plant including processing and post-harvest management
