Dear Friends,
Su***de by talented and successful actor, possessing the best available materialistic things has reminded us many things. As psychiatrist, I am not surprised and just want to emphasize my views based on available evidences and more than decade long experience in psychiatry.
1. No body is immune to psychiatric disorders neither rich nor poor.
2. Success and failures are not the only deciding factors for psychiatric disorders and su***de.
3. Stressors might play role but perceived stress plays the bigger role. Means how do you see life, intrepret and handle difficult situations and place yourself among friends & family and connect with them.
4. Never overestimate your capabilities and ignore the monstrous warning signs of psychiatric disorders.
5. Seeking help and sharing your heart with friends and family is not your weakness rather everbody needs that at some or other point of time.
6. Friends and family members should encourage their dear one's to seek professional help rather than devalue/dismiss their psychological/psychiatric problems.
7. Always stay alert for few of very disturbing and alarming statements of dear ones
"I am worthless"
"I think I am burden for you"
"Life seems meaningless to me"
"Nothing good can happen to me now"
These statements require urgent attention. Plz don't overestimate and try your counselling skills in such dire emergency of imminent su***de.
8. Losses and gains are dynamics of life. Neither of them is permanent, so take everything as part of fragile human life.
9. Depression and su***de can force the best visionary to develop tunnel vision, which will show them the darkest part of their life and compell for extreme step.
10. All psychiatric disorders have definite biological origin, we shouldn't devalue this hypothesis just because we couldn't find out causal evidences till now.
The message has become little long, probably distress of this big loss might have triggered.
Plz forward to help as many as we can.
Thanks
