Story time ☺️
As you may know, at Arani we develop formulations and then partner with manufacturers to produce these goods. This happens at different units since licenses for personal care, home care and dental care are different.
Post production, goods have to be packed and sent to our warehouse, from where we assemble boxes per your orders and ship 🙏
You would be amazed to know that when we started off in Jan 2021, we contacted 20+ manufacturers and NO one agreed to pack the bars without plastic. Their machines have (over time) evolved in a way that the bars head directly into a packing line, where plastic is wrapped and sealed around the bars.
We made it work, of course, because one partner agreed (god bless him ❤️) and we went and sat at the factory floor for every batch so that the ‘automatic process’ wouldn’t pack the bars.
>> Interesting snippet: MANY manufacturers actually told us that ‘Just take the bars in plastic, you can unwrap them, throw the wrapper and send to your customers however you want!!’ 👀😳
➡️ But WHY are we telling you this? 😅
Because YOU supported this ‘naked’ idea so much over three years that we could scale this method of production. And DEMAND that packaging should happen the way we want. In situations like these, scale is all that matters and YOU helped us achieve that ❤️
The result is that bars are now packed directly into re-used cardboard boxes. If cushioning is needed, some old paper sheets are used but nothing else.
And no one minds anymore. It was just inertia - not wanting to change a set process. When the change actually saves resources and money 🤷♀️
Your choices matter a LOT. Not just by reducing waste at your level, but by forcing supply chains to change.
Thank you for doing this 🙏
Together, let’s to consume differently 🌳🌎
