Triumph Over Inoperable Endometrial Cancer: A Journey of Hope and Healing

Definitive Chemoradiation and Customized Brachytherapy Achieve Durable Control in Inoperable Carcinoma Endometrium: A One-Year Post-Treatment PET-CT Follow-Up

In this case of bulky, operatively unresectable endometrial carcinoma with pelvic adhesions, initial systemic chemotherapy reduced primary tumor burden, but nodal disease progressed. The treatment strategy shifted to definitive external beam radiotherapy with concurrent chemotherapy (modified due to hematologic toxicity), followed by three sessions of customized intracavitary brachytherapy using tandem and vaginal cylinder applicators with precise radiation planning.

PET-CT imaging at 1 year post-radiotherapy demonstrates sustained complete metabolic response, highlighting the efficacy of combined modality radiation approaches, including advanced brachytherapy techniques, in managing inoperable cases and achieving durable disease control.

Had the privilege of participating in two insightful Panel Discussions at the 15th Annual Conference of Indian Brachytherapy Society, 2025 at NCI-AIIMS, Jhajjar. One of them was on Oncology Updates – Experts and Evidence 2025, which turned out to be an enriching academic feast with meaningful exchanges of knowledge and experience.

Equally rewarding was reconnecting with colleagues and friends from across the country — always a joy to share ideas and strengthen bonds in such a vibrant academic environment.

Grateful for the opportunity to be part of this inspiring platform dedicated to advancing cancer care and innovation in brachytherapy.
