It was a pleasure to be the Chief Guest at JECRC University, Rajasthan, Jaipur, on the occasion of NATIONAL HEALTCARE HACKATHON 2026 and address the next generation of India I was truly impressed with the initiative of bringing together young bright minds and partnering doctors to find 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 for quality and value-based healthcare delivery focused on Preventive, Predictive, Precision based, and Personalized care.

Such initiatives will not only improve patient outcomes but can become one of the most important enablers in India for the democratization of healthcare services by overcoming challenges of affordability, accessibility, socioeconomic barriers, the urban-rural divide, and language constraints.

The future of Universal Healthcare is clearly in the hands of this 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰, 𝗔𝗜-𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝘃𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗲 . Interacting with them, and hopefully inspiring them through my 30 minute address, was far more exciting and satisfying than many of my lectures at national and international medical conferences.

A world of caution for our patients on BP medications, as “SUMMER HEAT” sets in: The body looses lot of water through the skin, knowingly as sweat and even unknowingly. This may lead to fall in BP and even feeling faint and dizzy. Consult your doctor, because BP medicines may need to be decreased in summers. Avoid prolonged exposure to heat, and avoid prolonged standing in hot congested surroundings. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

it was a privilege to be invited to deliver a Guest Lecture at the 18th Women Cardiac Care conference organized by WINCARS in Indore on 14-03-2026.

The lecture related to my contributions of last 38 years in developing interventional cardiology in India and Asia Pacific. My compliments to the WINCARS leadership - Jyotsna Maddury Sujatha Vipperla Shibba Chhabra Sarita Rao Association - for the commendable initiative.

We all need to work together to be inspirational, aspirational, support and encourage women to progress in interventional cardiology.

Happy to say that 5 out of 11 Post DM intervention fellows at our institute are women interventional cardiologists.

Hope you all had a colourful and joyful Holi on 4th March, filled with celebrations, delicious food, and mouthwatering gujiyas. Incidentally, 4th March was also World Obesity Day — something I did not wish to remind you of on the festive day itself.

Now that the celebrations are over, it is important to remember that obesity is a growing health concern across the world. This year’s theme, “8 Billion Reasons to Act,” reminds us that this is a global issue and more so for India. In India, obesity has increased nearly threefold over the last 15 years, and 23–24% of adult men and women are affected and obesity in children is also rapidly rising. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Modiji, has also expressed concern over obesity in India, as it is linked to more than 200 disease processes in the body, from brain to toe. The good news is that controlling obesity is largely in our own hands.

Please watch this important video. Take charge now. Your health cannot wait.

It was good to be part of the lead faculty at PRISM-PCI Conclave, hosted by Meril at Vapi, from 16-18 January. The forum brought together experienced minds committed to advancing outcomes of PCI in patients with complex coronary artery disease through evidence-based practice and case-based discussion.
It was great to interact with the thought leaders in interventional cardiology from India and abroad and also to deliver a keynote lecture on development and progress of Interventional Cardiology in India “India’s Journey in PCI: From Pioneering Adoption to Global Leadership”, an arena which I have been privileged to contribute to immensely over last more than 38 years.

The use of ‘Anti-obesity medicines’(casually called ‘weight loss drugs') has become widespread and unsupervised. These “metabolism-modifying medicines” meant for Obese diabetics are now being randomly used for ‘cosmetic’ purposes and could also cause harm unless supervised by doctors/endocrinologists. The public needs to realise that they are not a ‘harmless quick fix’ for looking good, but are known to cause adverse complications. On the other hand, in medically indicated patients, along with lifestyle modification, they can be very beneficial. There should be no stigma around being overweight, and this should not fuel unnecessary ‘quick fixes of weight loss’. These GLP-1 agonists are medicines meant for morbid obesity, causing ‘health complications’.

Air pollution is not just a winter season headline, we breathe severely polluted air 365 days a year. The AQI at its best is in the unhealthy range, and usually in the hazardous range. Air pollution has become one of the most important causes of death in recent from lung problems, heart diseases, strokes, and is affecting all age groups, including children. We, Padma Awardee doctors, have raised our concern on this issue to be considered as a national emergency and have urged all stakeholders, policy makers and the public to make this the top agenda and create a roadmap to improve the air quality we breathe. It may take some time, but positive and unified action is needed urgently. It is every citizen's right to breathe clean air.

We see disturbing videos of young individuals collapsing suddenly and dying from cardiac arrest! what hurts even more is that instead of looking on, that life could have been saved by any bystander!! It is important for all and especially relatives of patients with heart disease to SEE THIS VIDEO and other videos and learn basic life support. Please note, mouth to mouth respiration is not required, only keep neck extended to maintain airway. What is most required is chest bone compression by 2 inches to maintain blood circulation. Do not worry about hurting the person, he is unconscious and you have to be effective to SAVE A LIFE and it is our responsibility to do so🙏🏼
