One such underrecognized and unaddressed area is the mental health issues staff develop during the .
The reasons for such adverse outcomes in them range from excessive workload/work hours, inadequate personal protective equipment, over-enthusiastic media news, feeling inadequately supported among others.

Saarthak is a group of organizations working on the issue of mental health in India and South Asia. Saarthak believes that mental health is a human right, and that people living with mental health problems are people first.
In its various roles, Saarthak has provided both not for profit and fee based mental health services in Delhi and India.
Saarthak has provided comprehensive, innovative, evidence based psychiatric, psychotherapy and quality of life services in Delhi NCR for the past twenty years under the leadership of Dr. Achal Bhagat. Saarthak presently provides its services from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in Sarita Vihar, New Delhi and from Saarthak premises in Safdurjung Enclave in South Delhi. Saarthak’s services are now also available online.
Saarthak works as a multidisciplinary team, and the team includes psychiatrists, psychotherapists, clinical psychologists, Quality of Life coaches and social workers. Saarthak provides mental health services across age groups and across mental health problems.
The conceptual framework of services includes evidence based pharmacotherapy, cognitive behaviour therapy and systems theory.
Saarthak has also worked as a capacity building and research partner for organizations like UNICEF, UNIFEM, UNODC, The Asia Foundation and Action for Ability Development and Inclusion (AADI). Saarthak has assisted the judicial process in a number of instances for capacity building, providing expert advice for cases and in oversight committees for implementing court orders. Saarthak has contributed actively to framing of policy and lawon Mental Health and Disability in India. Saarthak has worked in partnerships with nearly fifty not for profit organizations across India and South Asia.
Saarthak alumni have further trained and worked in institutions like Johns HopkinUniversity, King’s College London, UC London, Bath University UK, Florida Tech, Wisconsin University, TISS, Delhi University etc.
Saarthak has successfully advocated for rights of persons living with mental illness andinfluenced law and policy related to mental health, human trafficking, disability, gender based violence, child care and protection and survivors of child sexual abuse.
