Endovascular repair: truly a forgotten art.
A 68 year old female, known asthmatic with poorly controlled hypertension presented with history of chest pain radiating to back associated with mild shortness of breath on exertion. Since her clinical examination, lab investigations, electrocardiogram and Echocardiogram were inconclusive a CT aortogram was ordered which revealed a saccular aneurysm of descending thoracic aorta measuring about 8cm in diameter. Using the open approach to right common femoral artery, the patient underwent a successful endovascular repair using the endovastec stent graft. Post deployment angiogram showed successful exclusion of the aneurysm with no endoleaks. A big round of applause for the entire HEART team comprising of cardiologists, cardiac anaesthetists, CTV surgeons ,cath lab technicians, scrub and circulatory nurses and support staff for the prompt support at every stage of the procedure .
