AIIMS- Centre of Exellence under the National Programme for Prevention and Management of Trauma and Burn Injuries (NPPMT & BI), organized a Brain Storming session on Skin Banking and Donation on 26th November, 2025

Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, NOTTO, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the need for increasing awareness, strengthening Skin Banks and skin transplant centres and their registration with National Registry, standardized processing, training of manpower, licensing for Skin banking and transplantation, and improved national-level sharing of tissue.

Dr. Kanika Rastogi, Specialist Grade-III (Pathology) & Deputy Director, NOTTO, conducted a session on the National Registry for Skin Donation and Transplantation, emphasizing on accurate data reporting and transparency.

NOTTO remains committed to enhancing national coordination, standard protocols, and awareness to strengthen skin donation and banking services across the country.

60 students of Second-year http://B.Sc.(Nursing), along with faculty from Holy Family College of Nursing, visited NOTTO on 28th Nov, 2025 for an insightful academic session on various aspects of the Organ & Tissue Donation and Transplantation process.

Lectures delivered included:
•Basics of Organ Donation & Transplantation, Legal and Ethical Aspects, and the NOTP Programme
by Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, NOTTO
•Brain Stem Death Identification, Certification, Protocol and Audit
by Dr. Abhishek Verma, Anaesthetist and Intensive Care Specialist.
•Three-tier Networking Structure for Organ Donation & Transplantation and the Role of NOTTO
by Dr. Kanika Rastogi, Specialist Grade III, NOTTO
•Role of Nurses in Organ Donation & Transplantation and Family Counselling
by Dr. Prerna, NOTTO

Students were highly motivated by the sessions and many of them came forward to pledged for the noble cause of Organ Donation.

The session aimed to enhance understanding and motivate nursing students to contribute effectively to this lifesaving cause.

NOTTO’s stall at the International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 is promoting organ donation awareness and inspiring visitors to register as organ donor to give someone a second chance at life.

Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Union Health Secretary and Dr Sunita Sharma, DGHS both of whom have pledged for organ donation and other senior officers of Ministry visited NOTTO’s stall and appreciated the efforts at increasing awareness.

The MEU–Student Leadership Mission Organ Donation Awareness Group of Lady Hardinge Medical College, with the guidance of Dr. Sarita Beri, Director LHMC and Dr. Sheetal Joshi, Professor, LHMC organized the 5th Intercollegiate Workshop for Medical and Paramedical Students under the aegis of NOTTO, to empower them with knowledge about Organ and Tissue Donation.

Dr. Kanika Rastogi, Specialist in NOTTO, delivered an insightful lecture on the Role of NOTTO during the workshop.

Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, NOTTO appreciated the initiative and called upon the students to be brand ambassador for dissemination of awareness about the noble cause of organ donation.
