डॉक्टर वनीता ने बताया कि कार्डियक अरेस्ट आने पर लोग अचानक बेहोश हो जाते हैं और हार्टबीट अबनॉर्मल हो जाती है. नॉर्मल हार्ट बीट 60-90 bpm के बीच होती है, जो कार्डियक अरेस्ट में 250-350 bpm तक हो जाती है. कार्डियक अरेस्ट आने के बाद कुछ मिनट में ही इलाज न मिले तो मरीज की मौत हो जाती है. करीब 90% मामलों में लोगों की मौत हॉस्पिटल तक पहुंचने से पहले ही हो जाती है. सिर्फ एंटी एजिंग ही नहीं, बल्कि एंटीबायोटिक, एंटी एलर्जिक, एंटी हिस्टामाइन दवाएं भी कार्डियक अरेस्ट की वजह बन सकती हैं. भारत में अधिकतर लोग बुखार, जुकाम, खांसी होने पर केमिस्ट से पूछकर दवाएं खा लेते हैं, लेकिन ऐसा करना भी दिल की सेहत के लिए बेहद नुकसानदायक होता है. किसी भी दवा को लेने से पहले डॉक्टर से कंसल्ट करना चाहिए.

‘Women are born leaders’ believes Dr. Vanita Arora, who broke into the male bastion and successfully created her niche in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology. At a time when only men dominated the field, Dr. Arora did not hesitate from taking the road less travelled, and with her steeled determination she has come a long way. That she is the only woman Electrophysiologist in India speaks volumes about her penchant for doing something ‘extraordinary’ and makes her stand out of the crowd.

Dr. Arora is Director & Head, Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab and Arrhythmia Services, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi.

Dr. Arora earned her M.B.B.S. degree from Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, and pursued M.D. in Internal Medicine from the same institute. After joining Escorts in 1995, she did her DNB Cardiology from there, which led to National Board certification.

Having begun her career with KEM Hospital, Mumbai in 1994, Dr. Arora moved to Delhi the following year to work with the premier Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre. In her 15-years long stint with Escorts, she became a part of a pioneering team to start 3D mapping programme at the Heart Institute. She takes pride in being the first consultant, there upon, to have handled an independent case involving the technology. Prior to joining Max Group in 2009, she had been with Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
