Trisutra Unit CSIR, India has established CSIR Ayurgenomics Unit – TRISUTRA (Translational Research and Innovative Science ThRough Ayurgenomics) at CSIR-IGIB

TRISUTRA Unit has manifold activities with broad objectives such as:

1. Conduct research aimed at validation and providing scientific evidence to principles/concepts described in Ayurveda for predictive, personalized and pre-emptive approach towards health and diseased conditions.

2. Develop data and sample repositories for prospective research studies.

3.Develop interdisciplinary human resources.

4.Undertake and co-ordinate translational research for developing affordable health care solutions for diseases of national priority based on Ayurveda literature.

Ministry of AYUSH and CSIR-IGIB have partnered towards capacity building of Ayurveda Professionals for nationwide ‘Rashtriya Prakriti Parikshan Karyakram’ (RPPK) under the aegis of Ayushman Bharat Yojana. ‘Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Applied Development of Ayurveda Prakriti and Genomics’ at CSIR TRISUTRA Unit, conducted a two-day training course on ‘Prakriti Parikshan Methods and their applications in Preventive Health and Promotive Wellness’.

The inaugural program was graced Shri Roshan Jaggi, Joint Secretary and Dr. A Raghu Joint Advisor (Ayurveda), Min of AYUSH, and Dr. Anurag Agrawal, Director, CSIR-IGIB. Dr. Anurag Agrawal welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of this initiative of M/o AYUSH, GOI, especially in understanding the variability in population health parameters and integration of prakriti in it. Dr. A Raghu explained the overall government’s initiative of AYUSH health and wellness centers under the AYUSHMAN BHARAT yojana, and importance of prakriti based analysis for preventive health and wellness of the population. He also explained about the objective of the training programme and expectations from Master trainers at the end of training. Mr. Roshan Jaggi emphasized on the role of community health officers in engaging with the population at grass root level and creating awareness about the health and wellness, for large scale implementation of the government initiative.

Dr. Bhavana Prasher, gave an overview of IGIB’s Prakriti training programme designed for the purpose of RPPK, and extended a vote of thanks.
