​The Root Cause: Eustachian Tube Dysfunction
​The most common cause of SOM and non-wax blocked ears is Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD). The Eustachian tube connects the middle ear to the back of the nose/throat and is responsible for pressure equalization and fluid drainage. When it gets blocked (often by a cold, allergies, or sinusitis), fluid gets trapped.
