As part of the nationwide “100 Days Yoga Countdown” leading to the 12th International Day of Yoga, the Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Kolkata, organized an interactive Yoga Awareness Programme for OPD patients. Dr. Saroj Kumar Debnath, R.O. (Ay.), and Dr. Ranjita Ekka, R.O. (Ay.), delivered lectures highlighting the importance of yoga in the prevention of lifestyle diseases. The programme was coordinated by Dr. T. K. Mandal, Assistant Director (Ay.). The event also included a live demonstration by a yoga expert, showcasing simple asanas and breathing techniques that can be easily practiced at home. A total of 133 beneficiaries participated in the programme.

महाराष्ट्र यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ हेल्थ साइंसेज़ (MUHS) के विद्यार्थियों के लिए समर इंटर्नशिप प्रोग्राम (SIP) 2026
राष्ट्रीय भारतीय चिकित्सा संपदा संस्थान, हैदराबाद, में समर इंटर्नशिप प्रोग्राम (SIP) 2026 का आयोजन डॉ. जी. पी. प्रसाद, सहायक निदेशक (प्रभारी) के दूरदर्शी मार्गदर्शन एवं नेतृत्व में किया जा रहा है। यह कार्यक्रम भारतीय चिकित्सा विरासत के क्षेत्र में युवा शोधकर्ताओं एवं विद्वानों को प्रोत्साहित करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण पहल है।
इसी व्याख्यानमाला के अंतर्गत, डॉ. अशफ़ाक अहमद ने दिनांक 29-05-2026 को NIIMH, हैदराबाद में इंटर्नशिप कर रहे विद्यार्थियों को एक व्याख्यान दिया। उन्होंने यूनानी चिकित्सा पद्धति का संक्षिप्त ऐतिहासिक परिचय प्रस्तुत करते हुए इसकी विकास यात्रा को प्राचीन मेसोपोटामिया से यूनान, रोम, अरब जगत, फ़ारस और अंततः भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप तक स्पष्ट किया।
व्याख्यान के दौरान उन्होंने औपनिवेशिक काल में हकीम अजमल खान की उस महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका पर प्रकाश डाला, जिसके माध्यम से उन्होंने यूनानी एवं आयुर्वेदिक चिकित्सा पद्धतियों के संरक्षण और संवर्धन में योगदान दिया तथा ब्रिटिश नीतियों के कारण उत्पन्न अवनति का प्रभावी प्रतिरोध किया। उन्होंने भारत में यूनानी चिकित्सा पद्धति के प्रचार-प्रसार और विकास में विभिन्न प्रसिद्ध चिकित्सकों एवं भारतीय शासकों के योगदान पर भी चर्चा की।
डॉ. अशफ़ाक अहमद ने आगे यूनानी चिकित्सा के मूल सिद्धांतों, जैसे अनासिर (तत्व), अख़लात (रस/द्रव्य), मिज़ाज (स्वभाव) तथा उपचार के सिद्धांतों का विस्तृत वर्णन किया। साथ ही उन्होंने विद्यार्थियों को NIIMH, हैदराबाद में संरक्षित यूनानी पांडुलिपियों के समृद्ध संग्रह से परिचित कराया और चिकित्सा पांडुलिपियों के अध्ययन के महत्व पर बल दिया, जिससे चिकित्सा के ऐतिहासिक विकास को समझने, पारंपरिक ज्ञान के संरक्षण तथा भविष्य के अनुसंधान को प्रोत्साहन मिल सके।
व्याख्यान में NIIMH द्वारा प्रकाशित यूनानी पांडुलिपियों एवं पुस्तकों तथा पारंपरिक भारतीय चिकित्सा प्रणालियों की बौद्धिक विरासत के संरक्षण एवं प्रसार में उनके महत्व को भी रेखांकित किया गया।
The Summer Internship Program (SIP) 2026 is being conducted in the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad, under the visionary guidance and leadership of Dr G.P. Prasad, Assistant Director (In-Charge). It marks an important initiative in nurturing young researchers and scholars in the field of Indian medical heritage.
As part of this lecture series, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed, Research Officer (Unani delivered a lecture on 29-05-2026 to the internship students at NIIMH, Hyderabad. He began with a brief historical overview of the Unani Medicine, tracing its development from ancient Mesopotamia to Greece, Rome, the Arab world, Persia, and finally to the Indian subcontinent.
During the lecture, he highlighted the pivotal role of Hakim Ajmal Khan in safeguarding and promoting both the Unani and Ayurvedic systems of medicine during the colonial period and in resisting the decline caused by British policies. He also discussed the contributions of eminent physicians and various Indian rulers in the propagation and development of the Unani system in India.
Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed further elaborated on the fundamental principles of Unani medicine, including the theory of elements, humours, temperament, and the principles of treatment. He also introduced the students to the rich collection of Unani manuscripts preserved at NIIMH, Hyderabad, and emphasised the importance of studying medical manuscripts for understanding the historical development of medicine, preserving traditional knowledge, and promoting future research.
The lecture also highlighted the publications of Unani manuscripts and books by NIIMH and their significance in preserving and disseminating the intellectual heritage of traditional Indian systems of medicine.

The Summer Internship Program (SIP) 2026 is being conducted in the National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad, under the visionary guidance and leadership of Dr G.P. As part of this lecture series, Dr Biswo Ranjan Das, Research Officer (Homoeopathy), delivered a lecture on the topic titled “Introduction to Medico-historical Research w.r.t. Homoeopathy” on 27-05-2026 to the internship students at NIIMH, Hyderabad.

An awareness programme on Yoga, along with a live Yoga demonstration session, was organized at Begampur, South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, for local residents and patients. The programme was conducted by Dr. Shakti Bhushan with the objective of promoting the importance of Yoga for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Various simple Yogasanas, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques were demonstrated, and guidance was provided on incorporating Yoga into daily life for disease prevention and healthy living. The participants actively participated in the session and appreciated the initiative for creating awareness about holistic health and wellness.
