He graduated (MBBS) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS, New Delhi) in 1969. He has over 46 years of expertise in Vitiligo, Psoriasis, Eczema, Pemphigus and a specialist in skin disorders amongst children. Dr AJ Kanwar is one of the most experienced dermatologist in India. An MBBS and MD from AIIMS, Dr Kanwar has a taught at PGI Chandigarh. First in India to report efficacy of rituximab in pemphigus, he has treated about 150 patients with rituximab. Dr Kanwar has had extensive training in Pemphigus at St Johns Institute of Dermatology, London in 1995. And more recently at Kurume, Japan in 2010. According to Dr Kanwar the satisfaction which one gets after seeing his patients completely cured can not be described in words. He distinctly remembers one of his pemphigus patients seen by him in 1988 who had not eaten 'roti' for 6 months because of pemphigus lesions in mouth. Now the patient is cured and disease free since 23 years.
