DYK: New skin tags and mole changes are common in pregnancy.
Hormonal shifts during pregnancy can cause new skin tags to appear or existing moles to darken or change. Most of these changes are completely harmless and may fade after delivery.
What’s normal:
• Small skin tags in areas of friction (neck, underarms, groin)
• Moles becoming slightly darker
• New freckles or spots
When to check with your doctor:
• A mole that changes shape, size, or becomes irregular
• Any spot that bleeds, itches, or looks unusual
• New growths that concern you
Your doctor can evaluate any changes and give you peace of mind. Most pregnancy-related skin changes are temporary and nothing to worry about!
