đ¤°đĄ Wondering about those strange belly tightenings? Letâs talk Braxton Hicks contractions!
These are often called âpractice contractions,â and theyâre a totally normal part of pregnancy.
Braxton Hicks can start as early as your second trimester.
Theyâre your bodyâs gentle way of getting ready for the big dayâusually showing up as mild, uneven tightening in your belly that comes and goes.
Most of the time, these contractions are painless and irregular, meaning they donât come in a predictable pattern and usually last less than 30 seconds to a couple of minutes.
How can you tell if itâs just Braxton Hicks?
⢠Theyâre usually not painfulâjust uncomfortable.
⢠They donât get stronger or closer together over time.
⢠They often go away if you change positions, rest, or drink water.
But be watchful:â¨
If you notice contractions that become regular, stronger, and more painful, or you have back pain, bleeding, leaking fluid, or decreased fetal movementâcall your doctor right away.
These could be signs of real labor or another issue that needs prompt attention.
Trust your instincts and donât be afraid to check in with your doctor!
