LASIK के बाद भी 6/6 Vision क्यों नहीं मिला?
Understanding Post-Refractive Surgery Vision: UCVA vs BCVA
In this video, two most important terms that every LASIK, SMILE, SILK, ICL, or refractive surgery patient must understand:
1. UCVA – Uncorrected Vision
This is how clearly you can see without glasses or lenses.
After surgery, this becomes the most important measure—because the whole purpose of the procedure is to make you spectacle-free.
2. BCVA – Best Corrected Vision
BCVA is the best clarity you can achieve with glasses.
Before surgery, BCVA shows the maximum potential of your eye.
After surgery, your UCVA usually becomes the same as your earlier BCVA—provided your eye is healthy.
How vision is measured on the Snellen chart
If a patient can read the last line, that means they are seeing 6/6.
If they cannot read the last line but can read the second last line, they are seeing 6/9.
Post-refractive surgery vision typically aims to match the patient’s best corrected vision before surgery.
What to expect after refractive surgery
No matter which procedure you choose-LASIK, Contoura, SILK, SMILE, ICL, or any modern refractive technique-your post-operative vision depends on your pre-operative BCVA, not the type of laser alone.
