This is what happens when you plug in an AI agent… and just hope it figures things out.
Zomato rolled out an AI agent for local search on District, so I tried it.
I’m in Ahmedabad.
Bot gave me an option, “Popular Gujarati thalis.” so I went for it !
It said… no options.
Did a normal search right after, a few places showed up.
So yeah, the restaurants exist.
The AI just didn’t feel like finding them.
Feels like a lot of AI products right now.
Looks smart, talks smart… but breaks on the most basic use case.
Because somewhere we’re assuming:
“AI hai, handle kar lega.” It won’t!!!!
You still need to define flows, guardrails, fallbacks —> all the unsexy stuff.
Simple takeaway:
Test your agent like a real user.
Not just from your location, not just on perfect queries.
Because users won’t debug your AI.
They’ll just leave.
