SAI RETINA FOUNDATION, came into existence in September 2008, when Dr. Jayant Guha felt there was a need of a dedicated centre to tackle retinal disorders. N. U.

He realized this after having worked in the region of Delhi and its surrounding regions since 1995. After being trained in retina by renowned and one of the pioneers in India, Dr. P. Nagpal (Ahmedabad), Dr. Jayant Shekhar Guha, furthered his skills by visiting renowned European and American Vitreoretinal surgeons like Prof. Claus Eckardt, Prof. Mireille Bonnet, Dr. Steve Charles, Prof. Bartz Schmi

dt and Dr. Carl Claes. During the past 15 years, he has performed hundreds of complicated vitreoretinal surgeries besides many more laser procedures through which he has acquired a stature which prompted other famous phaco surgeons of other states to start collaboration projects with him in the field of Retina. In fact, there are many retina surgeons in Delhi who refer their complications to him. Systems have been put in place under Dr. Guha’s direction and supervision in which he runs the retina departments in far off places like Varanasi, Srinagar and Ambala. Constant interaction and regular visits between him and full-time retina surgeons in these centres is the key to the smooth functioning and success of these centres.In all these centres, including Sai Retina Foundation, he has been the architect of community outreach programmes in Diabetes and Diabetic Retinopathy. In Delhi alone he has conducted around 400 Diabetic Retinopathy screening camps in slums and JJ clusters.
