Established in 2006 as a public private initiative, PHFI is an independent foundation headquartered in New Delhi and its constituent Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPH) set up by PHFI have a presence in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Delhi NCR, Gandhinagar (Gujarat) Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and Shillong (Meghalaya). The Foundation is managed by an empowered governing board comprising senior government officials, eminent Indian and international academic and scientific leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders. The Government of Maharashtra and the Public Health Foundation of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support public health capacity strengthening efforts in the state. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Hon’ Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji, the Hon’ Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri Prakash Abitkar ji, and other senior officials from the Department of Health, Government of Maharashtra.

Mr S Ramadorai, Chairperson – PHFI, Professor Sanjay Zodpey, President – PHFI and Prof. Himanshu Negandhi, Director – Academics were present during the function this afternoon.

PHFI is committed to supporting the state of Maharashtra in its exemplary efforts towards strengthening the health systems in the state.

PHFI, in collaboration with UNICEF, successfully organised a one-day Regional Dissemination Workshop in Purnea, Bihar, on January 10, 2025.
The workshop focused on strategic approaches to improving the quality and coverage of Antenatal Care (ANC) in India.

65 Key stakeholders from the districts of Purnea Division (Purnea, Kathiar, Araria and Kishanganj), including the State Program Officer (State Health Society Bihar), Regional Additional Director (Purnea), Civil Surgeons, MoIC, DPMs, DCMs, DM&EOs, ASHA, BHM, BCM, UNICEF India Country Office, UNICEF Bihar, PHFI and Indian Institute of Public Health, Bhubaneswar participated in the workshop.

Together, they deliberated on overcoming existing challenges and strengthening ANC coverage and quality to drive better maternal health outcomes.

PHFI-Training Division has announced the next batch of Certificate Course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management (CCEBDM) 2024-25. The course is a unique initiative developed and implemented by Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) Delhi in collaboration with Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Education Academy (DMDEA), Chennai and supported by USV Private Limited. The 12 modular course will be offered in monthly (once in a month only on weekend) hybrid sessions (3 contact based and 9 online sessions).

Open I Virtual Health System Assessment and Diagnosis Course, jointly offered by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Harvard) and the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).
This Course, led by faculty and researchers associated with Harvard, is designed to equip experienced health professionals with the skills necessary for conducting health system assessments, diagnosing performance issues, and utilizing evidence, crucial for effective health reforms. One of the key aims of the Course is to form collaborations with a few selected individuals to work with Harvard-associated faculty and researchers on topics relevant to India’s health system.
The Course will run from August to October 2024.The first set of sessions, led by Profs. Winnie Yip and Michael Reich of Harvard will be held virtually on August 26-28, 2024.
