𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐲𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞
At Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH), community ophthalmology is at the heart of everything we do. 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 7 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 110 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, our dedicated community health workers reach deep into underserved communities taking eye care directly into people’s homes to ensure no one is left behind.
Through innovations in teleophthalmology, robust training programs, and capacity building, we strive to provide accessible, expert-led care to all, including those in the most remote and marginalized areas.
𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 19𝘵𝘩 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘖𝘱𝘩𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺, hosted by Blind People’s Association (BPA) and VISION 2020 INDIA: The Right to Sight - India in Ahmedabad.
The theme, "𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘴: 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘌𝘺𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘦 - 𝘈 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘛𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘝𝘪𝘬𝘴𝘪𝘵 𝘉𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵 2047", deeply resonates with our mission.
SCEH made a strong presence:
-Dr. Suma Ganesh, Dr. Shalinder Sabherwal, and Rakhi Nathawat were invited as special speakers in the main sessions, sharing valuable insights on critical areas of community eye care
-Our team delivered 21+ presentations, including over 15 impactful contributions in the free paper sessions
-Congratulations to: Priyanka Gupta and Lokesh Soundarapandian, awarded Best Paper in their respective sessions
-Parvindra Tyagi, honored with the Eye Health Champion Award 2025 for his outstanding contributions
We’re also proud to share that Dr. Shalinder Sabherwal, who served on the Scientific Committee this year, will now take over as Chair of the Scientific Committee for VISION 2020: The Right to Sight - India for the upcoming year.
Participation in conferences like these not only enables us to share our experiences but also helps us learn from others equally dedicated to community eye care.
