Jyotish – The Divine Eyes of the Vedas

Jyotish is neither gyan nor vigyan.
It is a Vedang — a sacred limb of the Vedas.

The Vedas are considered the highest source of knowledge. To understand them, Ved Purush is identified with Narayana.

Jyotish is the eyes of Narayana.
Just like eyes give vision to see the world, Jyotish gives the light (jyoti) through which the wisdom and timing of the Vedas can be understood. It is the divine vision of our Ishta, Narayana.

Chhandas is the mouth of the Vedas, because it gives the rhythm and structure through which Vedic mantras are spoken and expressed.

Kalpa is the head of Ved Purush, because it provides the rules and procedures for performing Vedic rituals.

So Jyotish is not merely astrology.
It is the divine light that helps us see and understand the wisdom of the Vedas.
