We facilitated a session on decision-making with young individuals from the community that focused on understanding the inner processes that emerge when choices feel overwhelming. Through reflective discussion and a gentle, body-based activity, participants explored how pausing, gaining perspective, and receiving support can support during times of decision fatigue and bring a sense of grounding.

This session, in collaboration with emphasised honouring internal conflict with compassion, rather than rushing toward certainty, reminding us that sometimes, simply staying present is enough ๐Ÿ’›

We recently concluded a four-day introductory training with parents from marginalised communities, in collaboration with Restless Development India. Working with parents can be complex, as they carry deeply held beliefs shaped by adversity, limited resources, and systemic exclusion. In many ways, they are already living the very outcomes of adverse childhood experiences that we aim to prevent.

When conversations remain purely cognitive, old beliefs, fears, and generational teachings can surface and create resistance. This is where the body becomes essential.

Through grounding, movement, and other embodied practices, parents can experience regulation and safety in ways that words alone cannot offer.

The body softens defenses, builds trust, and opens space for awareness to emerge, gently, without judgment.

(An initiative planned as a part of the QUTWE programme, led by Development with support from Challenges Canada and Foundation.)

The body is always speaking, softly, rhythmically, with a wisdom older than words.

With this belief at the heart of our work, we were grateful to attend the IADMT Symposium 2025 as their Compassion and Care Partner, a space that felt profoundly embodied, experiential, and alive. The enthusiasm, the depth of engagement, and the collective willingness to explore healing through the body are moments we will carry with us for a long time.

As an organisation striving to make India trauma-informed, our work is anchored in creating awareness around body-attuning, non-threatening, and regulation-supportive modalities. To be surrounded by a community that not only understands but deeply values these approaches was incredibly inspiring.

One of the highlights was listening to speakers like Dr. Neha Christopher, who so powerfully articulated the importance of intentional practitioner positioning, and how grounding our therapeutic presence in neurobiological insight, somatic attunement, and relational coherence can transform the healing process.

We also had the joy of engaging with so many thoughtful, warm, and curious people, each conversation reminding us why this work matters.

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing team at IADMTโ€”Devika, Nishi, and (the entire organising committee ) for curating this meaningful space with such intention and care.

As the Compassion and Care Partner, we offered moments of grounding, gentleness, and pause, an invitation for people to return to themselves amidst all the learning and movement.
We also curated an experiential stall that encouraged participants to slow down and tune into the subtle conversations happening inside their bodies.

And as we step forward, we carry this shared rhythm with us, quiet, steady, and deeply human.

Mental health care grows best in environments that feel safe, supportive, and accessible to everyone. The recent Supreme Court judgment highlights the importance of having trained counsellors available in institutions so that students can receive timely help.
At the same time, evolving regulations aim to strengthen professional standards, but they may unintentionally make it harder for many aspiring professionals to join the field. It becomes important to find gentle balance, one that honours both quality of care and ease of access.

Letโ€™s hear you, comment down below your thoughts about these changes and regulations.

10 yearsโ€ฆ

The journey that officially began in 2015, but the seeds were sown long before that!

Every single day of doing this work is an honour and an absolute privilege, especially when we get to do this with our loving community!

Sitting with a whole lot of gratitude, warmth, and compassion for each and every one who has been a part of this journey!

(PS: sharing a small snippet from our celebration! Stay tuned for more! ๐Ÿคญ)

Our team member, .khan_ , was invited to be on a panel at Reframe 2025, by Breakthrough, bringing diverse voices & stakeholders for meaningful conversations.

In our discussion with Shoi & Sudipta, we shared our understanding of a topic we strongly advocate for. Anmol opened the space by asking how youth leaders can strike a balance, given the common narrative that community leaders are โ€œtoo emotional,โ€ and that it interferes with leadership. We expanded the conversation by linking it to insights shared by Asma Khan, Deepa Pawar, & Shreosi Ray,
who highlighted how representation is often tokenised.

We reflected that scepticism toward emotions in leadership often comes from the same assumption that believes representation alone is enough and similar lived experiences builds the skills to work with communities.

To be able to notice & regulate their own emotions, & then hold safe spaces, youth leaders must be offered sustainable MH support. Emotions are not to be managed only if they โ€œshow up.โ€ They are at the very core of why we do the work we do.

Balance means having the capacity & wisdom to discern when decisions must be rational, & when they can, & should be radical. Our team member, Atufa Khan, was invited to be on a panel at Reframe 2025, an event organised by Breakthrough. The platform brought together diverse voices and stakeholders for meaningful conversations.

In our discussion with Shoi and Sudipta, we shared our understanding of a topic we strongly advocate for. Anmol opened the space by asking how youth leaders can strike a balance, given the common narrative that community leaders are โ€œtoo emotional,โ€ and that this interferes with their leadership. We expanded the conversation by linking it to insights shared by Asma Khan, Deepa Pawar, and Shreosi Ray,
who highlighted how representation often becomes tokenised.

We reflected that the scepticism toward emotions in leadership often comes from the same assumption that believes representation alone is enough, that simply having similar lived experiences equips someone to work with communities. The reality is different, Lived experience alone does not guarantee the ability to hold space for others.

For youth leaders to be able to notice and regulate their own emotions, and then hold safe, empowering spaces for communities, they must be offered sustained mental health support. Emotions are not secondary, to be managed only if they โ€œshow up.โ€ They are at the very core of why young leaders engage in the work they do.

Striking a balance across the spectrum of leadership means having the capacity and wisdom to discern when decisions must be rational, and when they can, and should be radical. As Akanksha Chandele beautifully put it,

This invites us to sit with a larger question:

Weโ€™ve just stepped into the second phase of our TICP journey with the supervision sessions. Looking back, itโ€™s been moving to see how each person has shown up, sometimes with curiosity, sometimes with questions, but always with presence.
Creating these spaces feels like building circles of care and reflection, where each voice adds meaning.
Along the way, weโ€™ve not only grown together but also found new ways to connect with others who care about this work as much as we do.
