Anu French, MD is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Member of the AAP’s Pediatric Integrative Medicine Leadership Initiative. She is double board-certified in Pediatrics and Integrative Medicine and has completed a pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital of Michigan with a fellowship in Integrative Medicine through Dr. Andrew Weil's Center for Integrative Medicine/University of Arizona. She has also completed an Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute/University of Colorado and Advanced Pediatric Training through the IFM (Institute for Functional Medicine). She has been in pediatric practice for 25 years with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital St Louis MO and recently opened her SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Pediatrics and Integrative Medicine office. Resources to learn more about Pediatric Integrative Medicine which emphasizes the powerful triad of child-family-practitioner, is informed by evidence and makes use of all appropriate therapies addressing nutrition, sleep, behavior, mental health, the mind-body connection and herbs and supplements. Dr French serves on the Integrative Medicine for the Underserved Policy committee for health care equity and attended the 2018 Integrative Health & Wellness Congressional Caucus hearings on Capitol Hill. She is on the core committee of Let’s Integrate, a national community network dedicated to building intergenerational resilience. A yoga student for 20 years, Dr French has completed Kids Yoga Teacher Training through the Yoyoyoga School in St Louis. She coauthored and published a review on Yoga in Children included in the AAP’s 2016 Clinical Policy Statement on the use of Mind-Body Therapies in Children and Youth. She offers resilience building, sound healing, art therapy and mindfulness workshops . Her choice of meditation is walking her backyard labyrinth and trying to be a mindful partner to her beloved and a mindful parent to her two precious daughters and her two wayward dogs.

Holy Encounter by Anu French

As I step over the threshold,
I ask to be blessed
into kind usefulness each day
As I wash my hands,
I ask to be mindful
and motivational each day
As I brew my morning tea,
I ask to be humble, open
and receptive each day
As I take the history, I ask to listen
keenly to the story each day
As I recognize the honor,
I ask for courage to be connected each day
As I feel the healing, I ask for clarity to see the wholeness each day
As I tend the mind-body-spirit,
I ask for surrender to the sanctity each day
As I nourish and I flourish,
I offer deep gratitude for the privilege each day

My presence, holy moment.

Each year, (March 25 to March 31) honors the dedication, leadership, and service of physicians across the country.

I remember this week, six years ago when I was home sick with COVID, filled with fear and wondering what the future held, personally and professionally. My daughters and I decided to do a coloring project to pass the time together, which still hangs in my garage as a reminder of what we all endured.

This year 2026, the theme, Unity in Healthcare, highlights the importance of collaboration across the entire healthcare system. Wishing all my physician colleagues a happy physicians week.
