Every small step forward matters.

One of the most rewarding parts of treating diabetic retinopathy is witnessing gradual, steady improvement — the kind that happens quietly over months, with determination on both sides.

Recently, a patient of mine reminded me what dedication truly looks like.
She has been travelling over 1,000 km every few weeks just to continue her retina treatment. Despite the distance, despite the challenges, she never missed a visit, never lost hope.

And today, her vision is significantly better than when we first met.
Not because of a miracle, but because of consistency, trust, and a shared commitment to protect her sight.

Diabetic retinopathy doesn’t reverse overnight. It requires:
✔ Regular follow-ups
✔ Timely injections/laser
✔ Blood sugar control
✔ Patience — lots of it

Her journey is a powerful reminder that with the right care and unwavering persistence, even sight-threatening conditions can be brought back under control.

Grateful to be part of her journey — and inspired by her determination every single day.

Job Satisfaction 😊

Dr. Shashank Rai Gupta doing lasers in patient having retinal holes and lattices.

Green lasers are often used in retinal treatments, particularly in procedures like photocoagulation for conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal holes and lattices and retinal vein occlusion.

The laser creates a controlled burn in the retina, which helps to seal leaking blood vessels, reduce abnormal blood vessel growth, or treat areas of the retina that may be at risk of detaching.

Follow these tips to reduce the progression of Myopia (increase in glass power of kids).

Follow these tips to reduce the progression of Myopia (increase in glass power of kids).

🤓Myopia, which can be called shortsightedness or nearsightedness, is an eye-related problem that means difficulty in distance vision.
A recent study forecasts that myopia will impact vision for almost half of their worldwide population by 2050, which will be increased due to lockdowns.

Myopia usually begins in childhood and is caused by genes, lifestyle, or both. It tends to get worse as kids grow old because their eyes carry on growing. This can have a considerable effect on a child’s everyday life and will sometimes lead to future eye health difficulties. Here are the tips on how to handle this problem:

✅1. Reduce time spent on near work

Reduce the time your kids spend playing games on handheld electronic devices and other computer-related activities like blogging and internet chats.📱

✅2. Encourage your child to take a break after 30-40 minutes of near work such as writing or reading.📘

Your son or daughter should glance at distant things for 3 to 5 minutes. They could watch anything from the window of your house to the distance or in neighboring greenery, or move outdoors for a short time.

✅3. Increase time spent on outdoor activities every day🌅

⚽️Outdoor tasks will delay the onset or progression of myopia in your child. Spend some time playing basketball games, walking at the playground, moving on family picnics at the beach, etc.

✅4. Make sure that there is sufficient lighting in the space.

✅5. When reading, make sure they support the publication approximately 30 cm apart out of their eyes.

✅6. Choose books with a huge print.

✅7. Refrain from reading in bed and from moving vehicles.

✅8. Make sure while using the personal computer, place the monitor at a distance out of the eyes. Fix its screen to reduce glare from the manifestation of other light sources.💻

✅9. Sit at a distance from the TV that’s acceptable for its own size. The greater the TV, the further away your kid should sit.

✅10. Ensure your child goes through eye checkups yearly
Even if your child has been screened for myopia in school, it’s really a fantastic idea to get them checked up if they are squinting, having headaches, or blurred vision.

✅11. Ensure a Wholesome lifestyle.
-Ask them to consume a balanced diet plan.🥦
-Try to make sure your child gets at the very least eight hours of sleep each night to break the eyes.⌚️
