I’m pleased to share a glimpse from our Global Expert Session on “Aged Care in Kenya,” featuring James Mbatia Kinuthia, President, Sir James Care Homes (Kenya), and a leading Dementia Care Expert.

James is a leading voice in Kenya’s aged care and dementia care sector. As Founder and President of Sir James Care Homes, he champions person-centred, dignified care for older adults.

He also serves as Chairperson of the Sir James Foundation, an international organization working to improve the lives of Kenya’s elderly—especially those living with dementia—through compassionate care, advocacy, and community awareness. 🌍💙

With training in Clinical Medicine and Community Health from Kampala International University, James is a Master Practitioner in Dementia Care and a Certified Geriatrics & Gerontology professional from the International Institute on Ageing, blending clinical expertise with grassroots insight.

Dignity and Resilience: Reflections on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities — from the Lens of India’s Elders✨

On 3rd December, as the world observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I’m reflecting on a group we often overlook — India’s elders living with disabilities.

In a country where age, culture and expectations intertwine, their stories speak of strength… but also of the urgent need for empathy, support and inclusion.

India is ageing fast — and with age, challenges in movement, vision, hearing and memory become more common. For millions of older Indians, even daily tasks turn into silent struggles.

Yet, behind every challenge lies resilience. And behind every act of inclusion lies hope.

How can we help:
• Listen to their lived experiences
• Make accessibility a part of everyday spaces
• Support community care and assistive devices
• Advocate for policies that protect the ageing with disabilities

Let’s ensure that growing old in India means growing with dignity, joy and belonging — not invisibility. 💛

Cold months can often lead to increased joint pain and stiffness for seniors, making movement feel challenging. That’s why simple daily exercises are essential to staying active, reducing discomfort, and improving flexibility all winter long. 💪🧣

In this video, we guide older adults through gentle neck, shoulder, hand, and leg mobility exercises — all designed to boost strength and keep the body functioning comfortably in low temperatures. These movements are easy to follow, can be done at home, and support better independence through the season.

Remember to stay warm, hydrated, and always listen to your body for a safe and enjoyable routine. Let’s move together and make this winter healthier and happier! 🤗✨
