A recent study featured in The Times of India suggests that compulsive scrolling and heavy short-form video consumption may be associated with shorter attention spans, higher stress levels, and increased anxiety. The review analysed 71 global studies covering nearly 98,000 participants.
In the article, Dr. Paramjeet Singh, Consultant Psychiatrist at Delhi Mind Clinic, explains that excessive scrolling is now commonly observed in clinics as mental fatigue, reduced focus, and even strain in personal relationships. He highlights that while the research shows association (not direct causation), the pattern is clinically significant.
The good news? Digital hygiene — mindful screen use, breaks, and sleep protection — can help restore cognitive balance.
