You might have initiated into Kundalini Kriya Yoga ; or planning to take Kriya Yoga initiation soon. As a curious and inquisitive yoga practitioner; you might have so many questions coming to your mind about Kriya Yoga. We started a new series called “Kundalini Kriya Yoga-Frequently Asked Questions”; where Yog~martand Yogiraj Siddhanath will answer questions.

1. What is Kundalini Gurunath?
2. What do the 3 ½ coils of Kundalini signify in Yoga?

Yog~Martand Yogiraj Siddhanath:

Kundalini is the kinetic energy remaining after the completion of the universe. This residual bio-electric force lies as light-sound vibrations potentially coiled three- and one-half times round the swayambhu Linga with its mounth closing the root of the sushmna nadi in the spinal cord. This divine energy is tucked away in the mooladhar chakra. To avail of it for ones own evolution and realization is the birth right of every human soul. It may be awakened by scientific Yogic procedures, shaktipat shakti sancharan, and best by unmani a no mind state of absorption.

The 3 1/2 coils of Kundalini are the microcosmic vibrations of the premordial universal sound of Aum. Each sound is rythm of resonant frequency of Aum, When the Yogi meditates on the aum called Pranava, he reverses the outgoing Aum vibrations to a state of zero (laya) and reaches the no-mind state. First he transmutes the grossest Akar vibrations to merge into the finer Ukar vibrations then those he fuses into the finest, Makar vibrations. There yet remains the subtlest of the matras called Ardha matra. Vibrations heard in meditations as the sweet sound of Gandhar Nada, Only after this anahut unstruck sound vibration is zeroed can the yogi enter the natural state of enlightenment "Samadhi'
