Today, a one-day workshop on Rapid Visual Survey (RVS) was successfully organized for Aapda Mitra volunteers and members of the general public, with the technical session conducted by Dr. Hemant Vinayak.

The workshop focused on enhancing community-level understanding of structural safety assessment and the preliminary identification of vulnerable buildings and infrastructure exposed to disaster risks such as earthquakes, landslides, floods, and other natural hazards. Through this training, participants gained practical knowledge on conducting rapid field assessments, identifying visible structural weaknesses, and prioritizing risk-prone structures for further technical evaluation.

This capacity-building initiative will significantly strengthen local disaster preparedness and mitigation efforts by enabling trained volunteers and community members to contribute effectively in hazard mapping, vulnerability assessment, and risk reduction planning.
