A young male patient met with a bike accident and sustained a mandibular /lower jaw fracture leading to dental malocclusion. ORIF under general Anesthesia was performed for the patient and mental nerve was preserved and handled carefully to minimise post-operative paresthesia. Dental occlusion was restored and patient was discharged by 4th postoperative day.

Robinson in 1937 described ameloblastoma as a benign tumor that is usually “unicentric, nonfunctional, intermittent in growth, anatomically benign and clinically persistent.”

This young male patient came with a complaint of swelling and numbness on his left lower jaw region. A biopsy was performed which revealed it to be follicular ameloblastoma,a benign tumor of the jaw.

On a personal level and as per medical literature, the standard treatment of choice is more radical involving a segmental or hemimandibulectomy (based on the extent of tumor) followed by a FOFF reconstruction. In this case the patient opted for a less radical approach and we performed a thorough enucleation/curretage alongwith chemical cauterisation intralesionally, through a transoral approach.

The following images show two scans within a span of 1 year and we can appreciate the amount of bone regained in the operated site, in the ramus and lower mandibular border region. There is no radiological and clinical evidence of a recurrence so far and patient has gained back the sensory function of left lower jaw region.

Periodic follow ups are a must in such a approach in the lookout of any recurrence .

Pathological white lesions of the oral cavity: Leukoplakia and Pseudomembranous Candidiasis

1. This picture shows a classical case of a homogenous leukoplakic patch involving primarily the buccal mucosa.
Most of the time attributed to the vice habit of to***co consumption, it's a Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders (OPMDS), i.e, vastly increases the chance of developing oral cancer.

Pre and post treatment within a period of 2 weeks showed very promising results.

2. Pseudomembranous candidiasis- this is an elderly patient, aged 70/M, presented with whitish patches primarily over tongue which heals on its own and onset is gradual.

Pre and post treatment results within 4 weeks.
Patient is on daily follow up and hasn't developed these patches post the necessary intervention.
