WISDOM TOOTH

It is also known as third molars, are the last teeth to erupt in your mouth. This generally occurs between the ages of 17 and 25, a time of life that has been called the “Age of Wisdom.”

What is an Impacted Tooth?

A tooth becomes impacted when there is a lack of space in the dental arch and its growth and eruption are prevented by overlying gum, bone or another tooth.

How Serious is an Impacted Tooth?

Impacted teeth can be painful and lead to infection. They may also crowd or damage adjacent teeth or roots.
More serious problems may occur if the sac surrounding the impacted tooth becomes filled with fluid and enlarges to form a cyst. As the cyst grows it may hollow out the jaw and permanently damage adjacent teeth, the surrounding bone and
nerves.

When should I Have my wisdom teeth removed ??

It isn’t wise to wait until your wisdom teeth starts to bother you .In general earlier removal of impacted tooth leads to less complicated wound healing .

One week after Root Canal Treatment

>A sinus opening in a tooth, often called a sinus tract or fistula, is an abnormal passage that drains a dental abscess or infection.
>It typically develops as a mechanism for draining pus from a necrotic or infected tooth.
>The sinus tract can open either inside the mouth (intraoral) or on the skin surface of the face or neck (extraoral)

CAUSE
>Sinus tracts usually arise from dental infections, such as a periapical abscess, which is an inflammation at the tip of a tooth root.
>These infections can be caused by tooth decay, trauma, or periodontal disease

TREATMENT
1)Root Canal Treatment
2)Tooth Extraction
3)Periodontal Therapy

Gingivitis - The longer plaque and tartar are on teeth, the more harmful they become. The bacteria cause inflammation of the gums that is called “gingivitis.” In gingivitis, the gums become red, swollen and can bleed easily.

Periodontitis - When gingivitis is not treated, it can advance to “periodontitis” (which means
“inflammation around the tooth”). In periodontitis, gums
pull away from the teeth and form spaces (called “pockets”).

How do I know if I have gum disease?
Symptoms of gum disease include:
• Bad breath that
won’t go away
• Red or swollen gums
• Tender or bleeding gums
that become infected.
• Painful chewing
• Loose teeth
• Sensitive teeth
• Receding gums or
longer appearing teeth

How can I keep my teeth and gums healthy?
• Brush your teeth twice a day (with a fluoride toothpaste).
• Floss regularly to remove plaque from between teeth. Or use
a device such as a special brush or wooden or plastic pick recommended by a dental professional.
• Visit the dentist routinely for a check-up and professional cleaning.
• Don’t smoke
