An interesting case...!!!
A 61 year old male patient had presented to the OPD with history of right sided epistaxis with headache for the last 3years... The patient also suffered from right nasal blockage for the same duration... The patient was Grade 1 hypertensive and was on regular antihypertensive medication....there was no history of intake of any anticoagulant medication...on anterior rhinoscopy, the right sided nasal cavity was found to be filled with blood mixed purulent discharge...The patient was put on antibiotics and medications to prevent epistaxis and was advised to undergo CT-PNS.... The CT-PNS revealed multiple calcifications(rhinoliths) within the right nasal cavity with concomitant right sided sinusitis predominantly involving the right maxillary and ethmoid sinuses... The patient was planned for removal of the rhinolith and right limited FESS under GA... Per-operatively, there were 5large chuncks of rhinoliths present within the right nasal cavity... All of them were taken out endoscopically and right limited FESS was done.... Merocel pack was removed on 3rd post-operative day... The patient is absolutely fine at present.
