Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a relatively newer agent which has gained popularity in the treatment of degenerative diseases like osteoarthritis, muscle and tendon disease etc.
Here patient's own blood is drawn and plasma contained with concentrated platelets is filtered by specialised equipment.
These platelets are rich in numerous growth factors which help in healing of injured structures.

Rotator cuff tendinopathy is one of the most common cause of shoulder pain where muscles and tendons around shoulder joint gets affected. Patients commonly complains of pain during over the head movements, combing hair etc.

One of the most modern treatment of the tendinopathy is putting regenerative medicines like dextrose/platelet rich plasma around the area of pathology.

Here we have given dextrose injection around infraspinatus muscle to a lady having shoulder pain for 6 months.

Frozen shoulder is a very common disease with high prevalence in diabetic age groups. It starts with shoulder pain then gradually restricts the shoulder movements.Pain killer and sugar control often fails to control the symptoms.

Shoulder joint hydrodilatation is a new but excellent technique to gradually mobilise the shoulder and helps a lot to do the physiotherapy.

This patient with grossly diminished shoulder movements for past few months received her first sitting of USG guided hydrodilatation along with suprascapular nerve block(not in the video). On table response was satisfactory. Will need one or two more sittings for a notable response.

Sometimes symtomatic management of pain improves the quality of life rather than a surgical correction.

This patient came to our clinic with low back pain and leg pain for years. She was having spinal canal stenosis due to slipped disc but without any red flag sign. She took multiple consultation for this and was advised for surgery. But she was reluctant for surgery and was searching for other options of pain relief which was her main complain. We examined her, started some medicines for nerve pain. It was helpful but she was not fully satisfied. So, we gave her epidural steroid injection(TFESI) targetting the most offending nerve root followed by a caudal epidural since multiple levels of nerve root compression was there. Total procedure time was 15 minutes. 1 hour post injection she was roaming in the ward happily as 70℅ pain was gone.

So, if you are suffering from any pain, don't jump for a surgical option at first. Take an opinion of your pain physician.

Shoulder pain due to tendon impingement(muscle rubbed against bone) is very common in patients who carry heavy weight above head. This often causes inflammation of surrounding structures like bursae( jelly around the tendons).

This patient was suffering from similar pain for months. All the conservative managements fail to give relief from pain. We performed a OPD based USG guided injection with drugs deposited around the rugged tendon. Patient is very satisfied with almost 80% pain relief post procedure.

Slipped disc

A very common condition when spongy material between two vertebrae (back bone) comes out and compresses there surrounding nerves. Often it causes sharp shooting pain in your legs or arms along with the nerve distribution which is known as radicular pain. Sometimes this pain lasts for months in spite of taking medicines and physiotherapy.
