Nationwide Initiative to Strengthen Newborn Survival: NRP Day Celebrated Across India
10-05-2026; Healthworld Hospitals, Asansol
In a landmark nationwide effort to improve newborn survival, the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) India is celebrating NRP Day on May 10th with large-scale, hands-on skill training programs being conducted across India. This initiative represents one of the largest synchronized healthcare training efforts in the country.
This historic initiative is being led under the leadership of Dr. Lallan Kumar Bharti, President, NNF India, with the vision of ensuring that every newborn receives timely and effective resuscitation support at birth.
Across the country, 1000 training courses are being conducted, with nearly 20,000 healthcare providers participating. These trainings are reaching not only metropolitan cities but also rural and remote regions, including geographically challenging areas.
In West Bengal, this initiative is being implemented across multiple centres, contributing significantly to strengthening newborn care services in the state.
Sharing the images of this training held at Healthworld Hospitals, Asansol this morning where we trained our team in Basic neonatal resuscitation skills.
We thank our hospital administration, Neonatology society of West Bengal, NNF and IAP for supporting us in conducting this workshop. We also thank Dr Tanmoy Biswas and Dr Subhopriyo Chakraborty, our other facilitators for the day.
These hands-on trainings are being conducted completely free of cost and include healthcare workers from both government and private sectors. This inclusive approach ensures wider reach and uniform strengthening of newborn care practices.
NNF India has played a crucial role in providing complete support for planning, coordination, standardization, and ex*****on of these trainings across all centres, ensuring quality and consistency.
This synchronized nationwide effort is expected to set a record for conducting the highest number of neonatal resuscitation skill trainings in a single day, marking a historic milestone in India’s journey toward improving newborn lives.
