“There is no such thing as a ‘perfect posture’ ❌
There is only a posture you stay in for too long.”

We often blame our back pain on bad posture…
But the real problem is something else 👇

👉 Sitting too long
👉 Standing too long
👉 Not moving enough

Your body is designed to move, not to stay still.

Even a “perfect posture” can cause pain
if you hold it for hours ⏱️

🧠 What your body actually needs:

✔ Change positions frequently
✔ Take movement breaks every 30–45 mins
✔ Stretch your body
✔ Keep your spine active

💯 Remember this:

“The best posture… is your next posture.” 🔁

👨‍⚕️ As a physiotherapist:

I don’t teach patients to sit “perfectly”
I teach them to move regularly

Because 👉
Movement is medicine 🫀

Wood smoke is not just uncomfortable… it can be dangerous if exposure is continuous.

People at higher risk include:
• Elderly
• Children
• Pregnant women
• People with lung conditions like Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
• Cooks who are exposed daily

In clinical practice, I have personally seen patients—especially those involved in cooking—getting admitted with serious lung problems due to long-term wood smoke exposure.

The good news?
This is preventable.

✔ Use proper ventilation
✔ Prefer cleaner fuels when possible
✔ Use improved or blower-based stoves
✔ Avoid long exposure to smoke

Your lungs don’t get a second chance.
Protect them today.

Wood smoke is not just “normal smoke”.

It contains harmful particles like
PM2.5
and toxic gases like
Carbon Monoxide.

These can enter deep into your lungs and affect breathing over time.

In my clinical practice, I have seen patients—especially those involved in cooking professions—getting admitted with lung problems after long-term exposure to wood smoke.

This is not about fear.
It’s about awareness.

Your lungs are affected by what you breathe every day.

Most people think a stethoscope is used only by doctors.

But in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, it is an important clinical tool used to assess how well the lungs are functioning.

By listening to lung sounds, physiotherapists can detect abnormalities like wheezing, crackles, or reduced air entry, and use this information to guide breathing exercises and respiratory rehabilitation.

Assessment is the first step to effective treatment.

🫁 Physiotherapy is not just exercises — it’s clinical science.

“Assistant professor outside.

Sometimes a single sentence stays in your mind for years.

During my college days, one senior physio told me:

“Joy… patient surgery case dhaan.
Namba ippo pakka vendaam… surgery apram paathukalam.”

At that moment, it sounded normal.

But later, when I started working in cardiothoracic settings, I realized something important.

Why should physiotherapy start only after complications appear?

Why not prepare the patient before surgery itself?

That’s where Prehabilitation comes in.

Educated and experienced surgical teams understand this very well.
Preparing lungs, muscles, and movement before surgery can reduce complications and improve recovery.

As physiotherapists, our role doesn’t start after the incision.

Sometimes… it should start before the surgery even begins.

💬 Comment “PREHAB” if you believe recovery starts before surgery.
💾 Save this to remember the importance of prehabilitation.

Day 1 as Assistant Professor 👨‍🏫

A new chapter in my physiotherapy journey begins today.
From being a student to standing in front of a classroom.

Things I carried with me today:
📓 Notebook
🖊️ Pen
💧 Water bottle
🙂 And a positive attitude.

Ready to teach, learn, and grow along with my students.

“A lot of people don’t know this…”

Physiotherapy should start before major surgery.

Yes — before surgery.

This is called Prehabilitation (Prehab).

Prehab means preparing the patient’s:

• Lungs
• Muscles
• Movement system

before surgical stress.

Because surgery is controlled trauma.

If the body is already weak…
recovery becomes slower and complications increase.

That’s why cardio physiotherapists teach patients before surgery:

→ Splinted cough
→ Incentive spirometry
→ Pre-strengthening exercises
→ ROM & isometric activation

So after surgery…

Patients are not learning these for the first time.

They are already prepared.

Better lungs before surgery
= Less respiratory complications.

Stronger muscles before surgery
= Faster mobilization after surgery.

Less ICU stay.
Better recovery.

Prehab doesn’t delay surgery.

It improves recovery quality.

But here’s the reality…

In Part 2, I’ll tell you something that really happened to me.

Don’t miss it.
