Since then it has made vast inroads into all aspects of the eye care arena with the untiring hard work & dedication of Dr. V. Panneer Selvam knwon to all of us as Dr. VPS. From the very beginning we started functioning with an aim to help the visually impaired in rural areas and was then that the rural outreach programme was started. Seeing the tremendous response, Dr.VPS started the charitable tr

ust, Save Sight Foundation in 2000. The SSF is an Non Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated for the prevention of blindness. From a general ophthalmology out patient (OPD) model we have now grown to a stage where we have separate OPDs for the retina, glaucoma and cornea clinic sub-specialties. Starting from 4000 patients annually, today we have an inflow of 50,000 patients annually. Our NGO, the SSF screens more than 350,000 patients annually and has conducted 100,000 free surgeries. Extending our help internationally, Arasan Eye Hospital has conducted free eye camps in the West African nation of Ghana, conducting more than 3000 eye surgeries. Eventually we have also established ourselves as a premier institute for training and education. where we now provide short term Fellowships in SICS and Phaco, a long term Fellowship in General Ophthalmology, DNB , B.Sc. Optomtetry & Diploma in Ophthalmic techniques. Additionally, we have trained over 500 National Doctors & over 60 International Doctors.
