Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajai Singhh, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology organized an awareness talk on 10th April 2026 at the Trauma Centre Lecture Theatre. The session focused on important public health topics, including screening methods for cervical cancer and HPV vaccination as a preventive strategy against carcinoma of the cervix.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Pragati Divedi. The event was conducted in the presence of faculty members from the department, including Dr. Vaibhav Kanti, Dr. Soniya Vishwakarma, Dr. Nupur Mittal, Dr. Shalini Singh, Dr. Sarika Singh, and Dr. Anuradha. Dr. Aishwarya (PG Junior Resident, 3rd year) also played a key role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the session.
The primary objective of the lecture was to educate nursing students about the importance of early detection and prevention of cervical cancer. The audience comprised B.Sc. Nursing students from 2nd and 4th semesters, as well as GNM 1st and 2nd year students. Approximately 150 female students attended the session, making it highly impactful and engaging.
The session emphasized the significance of regular screening methods such as Pap smear and HPV testing, along with raising awareness about the role of HPV vaccination in reducing the risk of cervical cancer. The talk encouraged students to become advocates of women’s health and spread awareness in the community.
The program was organised under the guidance of HOD, Dr. Kalpana Kumari & well-coordinated from the nursing side by Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Demonstrator, Faculty of Nursing, whose efforts contributed significantly to the successful organization of the event.
