World Hepatitis Day

is observed each year on 28 July to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, which causes inflammation of the liver that leads to severe disease and liver cancer.

On World Hepatitis Day 2022, WHO is highlighting the need for bringing hepatitis care closer to the primary health facilities and communities so that people have better access to treatment and care, no matter what type of hepatitis they may have.

WHO aims to achieve hepatitis elimination by 2030.

Every year on June 21st, the International Day of Yoga raises awareness about the benefits of this mind and body practice. It’s also a day to encourage people around the world to engage in Yoga.
The word yoga means to unite or to join. This symbolizes the union of body and consciousness, and the philosophy originated in India about 5,000 years ago. One of the original goals of yoga was spiritual growth. Another goal was mastery over the physical and mental body. Today, two billion people around the world do yoga, some a form of exercise, and others to relieve stress. They have discovered all of yoga’s health benefits and that attributes to its growing popularity.

Since 1995, this day is observed to spread awareness about international cooperation to combat desertification and the effects of drought. The United Nations General Assembly in 1994 declared 17 June as the "World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought". It is a unique occasion to remind people that desertification can be effectively tackled, solutions are possible and important is participation and cooperation at all levels. Drought, with a focus on early action to prevent disastrous outcomes, is the theme of the Desertification and Drought Day marked on 17 June 2022. The global observance of the event will take place in Madrid, Spain, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

June 14- World Blood Donation Day.
The theme of world blood donation day of 2022 is - Donating blood is a solidarity, join the efforts & Save lives.
Blood donors day first celebrated by WHO & Red cross together on June 14,2005. The importance of June 14 is the birth day of Karl Landsteiner who discovered ABO Blood groups. The day is celebrated inorder to create global awareness of the need of safe blood & blood products and to appreciate the donors for their voluntary service. The person who fulfill the criteria can donate blood, only 350ml of blood is taking while donation which will replace the quantity (plasma) by 48 hours and red cell replacement in 56 days.
Voluntary blood donation is essential, for the these groups of people like thalassemia, hemophilia, anemia, burns , post surgical patients, accidents ,bleeding disorders, pregnancy associated bleeding and cancer patients.
Every blood donor is a hero. The donation is done to the human being who doesn’t know the others, who is receiving. “ രക്തദാനം മഹാദാനം ”.
The donor should have been met the criterias:
Age should be between 18 – 65 years with physical and mental wellbeing.
Weight should be above 45KG
Hemoglobin should be above 12.5 g/dL
Blood pressure should be in normal range.
Males can donate at every 3rd month (90 days ), females at 4th month, these gap should be maintained between two blood donations.
If the donor is infected with covid 19, he/she can only donate blood after 28 days with covid negative report.
After 14 days of taking covid vaccine, they can donate blood.
Diabetic patients who are taking medications can donate blood but under insulin they can’t donate blood.
By donating blood we can save four persons life, be a voluntary donor and save life.
